Prepare a video for sharing

A shorter clip, suitable dimensions and a sensible bitrate usually beat repeated conversions.

1. Remove the part you do not need

Open the video trimmer and scrub the white playhead to the moment you want. Drag a purple handle toward it: the handle stops at that point. Release and drag again to move past it. Preview the selection and listen to both ends before exporting.

The trimmer copies the original encoded video and audio without re-encoding. Keyframe and packet boundaries can retain footage outside the selected interval. Preview the exported cut and keep the original for future edits.

A four-second original motion study with a quiet test tone. Playback is optional. Download the sample to try the tools.

2. Choose dimensions that suit the destination

For an ordinary landscape clip, 1280 × 720 is a useful starting point when full HD is unnecessary. Square and portrait outputs are available in the resizer. Check the destination’s current requirements before making an important submission.

Contain keeps the complete picture and adds padding where needed. Cover fills the frame by cropping its edges. Check captions, faces and logos after using Cover. Turning landscape footage into a portrait frame can remove a large part of the scene.

3. Start at Balanced, then inspect motion

The compressor offers quality presets. Start with Balanced, export a short representative clip, and watch moving subjects, foliage and dark scenes. Try More detail for a clearer picture, or Small file for easier sharing at up to 720p / 30 fps.

Quality-based encoding adapts to the content, so output size varies. The compressor checks actual bytes and offers a download only when it is smaller. An already efficient recording may be best kept as it is. Compression happens on your device and may take several minutes.

4. Pick a container your destination accepts

MP4H.264 video and AAC audio when present. The compressor exports MP4 using its local software engine. Resizing and conversion use the same local engine.
Audio onlyMP3 (default) or M4A/AAC.Encoded privately on your device.

5. Watch the download all the way through

Check the beginning, ending, orientation, sound and audio/video synchronization. Only primary video and audio tracks are retained; extra tracks and subtitles are not preserved. If a result cannot be made smaller at your chosen quality, keep the original or try Small file.

If the browser cannot finish

Keep the tab in the foreground, close other demanding tabs and try a shorter clip. Current input boundaries are 150 MiB, five minutes and up to 1920 × 1080 total pixels. Being below them does not guarantee enough memory or a supported codec. Cancel releases processing resources; try the other format or a current desktop browser. Read the compatibility notes before relying on a mobile device for a large export.
