What is removed, and what is not

The source metadata is not copied into the new image. The browser encoder may add basic technical fields, such as resolution. Visible information, faces, watermarks and clues in the picture remain. This is not an anonymization tool.

Orientation and color

The browser applies supported EXIF orientation before drawing. Re-encoding can change color profiles and file size. Keep your original if you need its camera data, copyright fields or archival quality.
